A lab-grown diamond is a 100% real diamond, created above ground using advanced technology that replicates the same natural conditions found deep within the Earth. At Yana & Co., we craft each diamond using the CVD method (Chemical Vapour Deposition), resulting in gems that are chemically, physically and visually identical to mined diamonds. IGI Certified. Ethically Sourced. Environmentally Friendly.
Every lab-grown diamond in our collection is IGI certified, ensuring it meets international standards for quality and authenticity. Unlike mined stones, lab diamonds are created without environmental harm or human conflict. They are a conscious and luxurious alternative to traditional diamonds.
How Lab-Grown Diamonds Are Made
At Yana & Co., we use the CVD method to create diamonds that are high in clarity and quality.
Here's how it works:
- Diamond Seed: A thin slice of carbon is placed in a high-temperature chamber.
- Carbon Infusion: Carbon-rich gases are introduced and heated, forming plasma inside the chamber.
- Growth Over Time: Carbon atoms bond and grow on the seed over several weeks, creating a diamond layer by layer.
Our diamonds are not mass-produced. Each one develops natural inclusions and growth marks that make it as unique as you.
Lab-Grown vs Mined Diamonds
Feature | Lab Grown Diamonds | Mined Diamonds |
---|---|---|
Composition | Pure Carbon | Pure Carbon |
Appearance | Identical | Identical |
Durability | Same Hardness | Same Hardness |
Certification | IGI Certified | IGI or GIA Certified |
Environmental Impact | Minimal | High |
Ethical Concerns | None | Sometimes Present |
A lab-grown diamond is to a mined diamond what a greenhouse orchid is to a wild one. Still nature. Just better controlled.
Why IGI Certification Matters
All lab-grown diamonds at Yana & Co. are graded by the International Gemological Institute. IGI certification evaluates each diamond on the 4Cs: colour, cut, clarity and carat. This gives you full transparency and confidence in your purchase.
Only G plus colour and VS plus clarity stones make it into our collections. Nothing less.
What Are the 4Cs of Diamonds?
The 4Cs stand for colour, cut, clarity and carat. These four characteristics are used to grade the quality and value of any diamond, whether mined or lab-grown.
A. Diamond Clarity
Clarity measures the number and visibility of inclusions (internal flaws) and blemishes (surface flaws). These imperfections are what give each diamond its personality.
- Internally Flawless (IF): No visible inclusions even under 10x magnification.
- Eye Clean: Most diamonds graded IF to SI2 appear flawless to the naked eye.
- Lab Specific Inclusions: Lab diamonds may contain metallic inclusions, a signature of their origin.
- Clarity Scale: Ranges from IF to I3, based on the number, size and location of imperfections.
Flaws affect how light passes through the stone. That means clarity also affects brilliance.
B. Diamond Cut
Cut is about how a diamond's surfaces reflect light. It determines how brilliant and sparkly the stone appears.
- Excellent Cut: Perfect proportions, symmetry and polish. Maximum shine.
- Facet Structure: Each flat surface or facet catches and reflects light. More precision, more sparkle.
- Cut Grade: Diamonds are graded on a scale from Excellent to Poor. Only the top grades make it into our pieces.
There is no one best cut. The right one is the one that makes you feel something.
C. Diamond Color
Colour is graded from D to Z. D is completely colourless. Z has a visible yellow or brown tint.
- D to F: Colourless. Most rare. Most valuable.
- G to J: Near colourless. Slight warmth. Still high quality.
- S to Z: Noticeably tinted.
Yana & Co. diamonds are selected in the D to G range. They appear bright, white and full of fire.
Colour is personal. An ice white stone might feel clean and sharp. A warmer tone might feel soft and romantic.
D. Diamond Carat
Carat measures the weight of a diamond. One carat equals 0.2 grams and is divided into 100 points.
A larger carat does not always mean a larger-looking diamond. Cut depth affects visible size.
Two diamonds of the same carat can look very different depending on how they are cut.
At Yana & Co., we help you balance carat weight, cut and clarity to find your perfect match. Lab grown diamonds are not imitation. They are innovation. At Yana & Co., we believe ethical luxury is not a compromise. It is a statement.
